Congratulation to the new owner of the little, unrestored 4hp Marshall Britannia portable steam engine. I returned this engine direct from Chile and she has now found a keen, young owner. I look forward to seeing her back in steam soon.
this Fowler traction engine had not been in steam for several years and required considerable restoration. It has been a pleasure to work with her owner and his family in getting the engine ‘up and running’, functioning as she should to enable them to finish the cosmetic work. We are pleased that the boiler from ‘Lindsay’, the 0-6-0ST locomotive manufactured by Wigan Coal & Iron Company Limited has arrived for remedial repairs. The Brown and May portable steam engine, no. 6226, of 1898 requires some boiler work. Some of the engines history is known. It was owned by Eames Brothers, London Colney, Hertfordshire. I have found these lovely images of the Robey taken by Chris Allen while the engine was at Penrith Steam Museum.
Recently in the boiler workshop is this unique Robey undertype engine. It was supplied new to Hesleyside Hall, a large private country estate in Northumberland.
