We are pleased that the boiler from ‘Lindsay’, the 0-6-0ST locomotive manufactured by Wigan Coal & Iron Company Limited has arrived for remedial repairs. The locomotive is reputed to have been named after the eight Earl of Balcarres, Alexander Lindsay. It was purchased by the present owner, John Bunch in 2019 who is carrying out a comprehensive restoration. The boiler itself has undergone extensive restoration over the years and is currently in good condition. I will post updates as we progress.
Information on the locomotive can be found on the ‘Preserved British Steam Locomotives’ website by following the link below. I have added a photograph taken by Andrew Murray of the locomotive at Carnforth in July 2008.
